It is hard to believe another year has come, and with it comes the excitement of taking some time to address new opportunities and to contemplate the highlights of the past year.
After much prayer, and trying the fit of three other candidates, we have made the decision to hire Arnie Kleinsasser as our General Manager. Jennie and I will be working with him as he takes over more of the daily operations and helps us set new visions for Mountain Arts and The Coffee Pot. We are excited to continue looking for where God will lead us.
One new opportunity comes to us as we have a 80’ x 30’ shop building vacated on our property sometime this winter or spring. We are talking about what we can do with this to enhance the pottery side of the business.
In addition, we now have one year under our belts without doing the huge amount of wholesaling we have done in the past. We have continued to supply wholesale pottery to Yellowstone National Park, and have kept our contracts with customers ordering custom medallion mugs. But, aside from that, we have tried to maximize the retail side of our pottery business -- at the Store, the Kiosk in the mall, and especially on our Website. As 2015 begins, we will be evaluating whether or not reducing our wholesale was a wise decision.
On the Coffee Pot side of the business, Colette Polen has joined our team. She comes with a great amount of restaurant experience. As we move forward, she will be working on improvements with Marci who has been such a force behind what God has done with the bakery, restaurant and coffee shop so far. In addition to changes here on site, we have launched a new website for The Coffee Pot. We hope this will help grow our “Coffee Pot-to-Go” menu and will get word out about our local specials. This has been a long time coming and it is finally here!
There is something about flipping the calendar over from one year to the next that goes beyond just one day to another, or one year to another. It is a new opportunity to start fresh. May this New Year of 2015 bring you many great opportunities and many blessings.
