Cinnamon Rolls are one of the signature menu items at the Coffee Pot Bakery Cafe, having been one of the first bakery items made when Mountain Arts Pottery opened a coffee shop in their shared building. I was the first baker (also first custodian, dishwasher, sales clerk, office staff, etc.) when we decided to add coffee and pastries to our pottery line. I love to make cinnamon rolls and had a fair amount of success in the yeast division at the Montana Winter Fair which was previously held in Bozeman. We have been offering our guests cinnamon rolls now for the past thirteen years. I am no longer the baker, as I had the good sense to hire bakers who are younger and better bakers than I am.
Our creative staff of bakers has recently begun to make Saturday specialty rolls. We still use the dough recipe that won many blue ribbons in the past and have now begun experimenting with leftover pie filling. The bakers first used the leftover pie filling and leftover roll dough to make some treats out of them for the staff. The original combination was the Blackberry Orange roll. It was so delicious and everyone loved them so much that they decided to make them the following Saturday for our customers. We sold out very quickly and increased the number the following weeks. We have made Peaches and Cream, Strawberry Lemon and Raspberry Lemon rolls. We make Almond, Maple and Orange rolls throughout the week, along with our ever popular Caramel Pecan rolls, but our line of fruit rolls has been so well received that it is a great addition to what we offer on a daily basis.
Our head baker, Stephanie, loves to have people call in with requests for us to recreate pastries and other treats that they remember from their past. So if there is something that you long for and would like for us to make for you, just give us a call at the Coffee Pot.
